Containers are created with `--rm`, so Docker removes them asynchronously after they stop.
The pre-start `docker rm` returns immediately while that removal is still in progress
(its error is suppressed), and the following `docker create --name` can fail with
"The container name ... is already in use".
This is easy to hit since systemd_service_manager switched its default restart mode to `all-at-once`:
many containers stop and start at the same time and Docker falls behind on removals.
The playbook then fails at "Restart systemd services needing restart at once",
even though the services recover on their own (`Restart=always`) a little later.
The external roles (MASH, devture) were hardened against this in 2026-03
(see mother-of-all-self-hosting/ansible-role-valkey@0ba79c0), but the roles in `roles/custom` never were.
This ports the same bounded cleanup loop to them: stop, force-remove,
and wait until Docker releases the name, failing explicitly after a timeout.

Part of adopting a uniform naming policy for bridge variables,
where the variable prefix matches the role directory name.

Route the whole mautrix-telegram HTTP port via Traefik under
`<matrix-fqn>/bridges/telegram` and populate appservice.public_address,
reusing the matrix_bridges_exposure_* mechanism. The provisioning shared
secret is already auto-generated in group_vars, so the provisioning API
is enabled.

* feat: support container_network=host across all roles + systemd templates
Mirror the pattern Slavi introduced for matrix-coturn (aafa8f0) across the
fork: every 'Ensure X container network is created' task gets a
'when: <var> not in ["", "host"]' guard so MDAD does not try to
docker_network create a network literally named 'host' (returns 403,
since host is a pre-defined Docker network).
Mirror the same guard in every systemd unit template that does
'ExecStartPre=docker network connect <addnet> <container>' loops over
matrix_<role>_container_additional_networks: skip the connects when the
container is on host networking (where additional --network attaches
are invalid).
Unblocks DiD setups where MDAD-managed containers share their host's
network namespace (matrix-mdad outer compose service joined to central
postgres/openldap networks) to reach external services on the outer
Docker daemon.
* Simplify container network guards (!= 'host') and fix duplicate when
Guarding on the empty string ('') as well was misleading: systemd unit
templates still render an unconditional --network= flag, so an empty
network value produces a broken docker create command. Only 'host' is
actually supported, so only guard on that. This also matches the
existing convention in the Traefik role
(when: traefik_container_network != 'host').
Also fix a duplicate when key in the meshtastic-relay role, where the
network-creation task already had a when condition - the two are now
combined into a list.

Matches the earlier Python -> Go rewrites of the other mautrix-* bridges.

The bridge is now a Go binary with upstream-handled automatic database and
config migration on first start, so in-place upgrades on Postgres should
Just Work for users on the defaults. The lottieconverter sidecar container
is gone (bundled upstream), and the public web-based login endpoint is
gone (login happens inside Matrix now).
Upstream v0.2604.0 has a known bug in the legacy SQLite migration that
can corrupt data. The role detects legacy Python-bridge SQLite databases
(via the `telethon_sessions` table signature) and refuses to upgrade,
pointing users to switch to Postgres (playbook-managed pgloader migration)
or wait for the next upstream release. The guard is isolated in its own
`validate_config_sqlite_legacy_migration_bug.yml` so it can be deleted
cleanly once upstream fixes the bug.
Removed variables (all caught by the deprecation check in
`validate_config.yml` with actionable rename/removal hints): the entire
`_hostname` / `_path_prefix` / `_scheme` / `_public_endpoint` /
`_appservice_public_*` / `_container_labels_public_endpoint_*` /
`_container_http_host_bind_port` family (web login endpoint is gone);
`_bot_token` (old-style relaybot is gone, use the common bridgev2 relay
mode); `_filter_mode` (dropped upstream); `_bridge_login_shared_secret_map*`
(use Appservice Double Puppet); `_username_template`, `_alias_template`,
`_displayname_template` (templates moved under `network:`, new Go-template
syntax, exposed via `_network_displayname_template`); all
`_lottieconverter_*` variables; `_appservice_database` (renamed to
`_appservice_database_uri`).
Added playbook-time validation that catches legacy permission values
(`relaybot`, `puppeting`, `full`) in the fully-merged config (so overrides
via `matrix_mautrix_telegram_configuration_extension_yaml` are caught too),
with a mapping hint in the error message.
Other notes:
- The legacy sqlite->postgres relocation of `{base_path}/mautrix-telegram.db`
to `{data_path}/mautrix-telegram.db` now happens BEFORE the pgloader
migration step, so users who flip to Postgres as part of this upgrade
get their data imported correctly.
- The Ketesa managed-user regex for the telegram namespace is updated to
match both regular IDs and the new `channel-<id>` form used by bridgev2.
- `matrix_playbook_migration_expected_version` bumped to v2026.04.24.0,
with a new breaking-change entry pointing at the CHANGELOG section.

These three roles have multiple variable prefixes each:
- kakaotalk: matrix_appservice_kakaotalk + matrix_appservice_kakaotalk_node
- telegram: matrix_mautrix_telegram + matrix_mautrix_telegram_lottieconverter
- synapse: matrix_synapse + matrix_synapse_customized + matrix_synapse_rust_synapse_compress_state
For each: renamed _docker_image* to _container_image* (and _docker_src*,
_docker_repo* where applicable), added deprecation entries in
validate_config.yml, updated group_vars references, and moved
deprecation tasks to the front of validate_config.yml.

* Add matrix_bridges_msc4190_enabled flag for using msc4190 on supported mautrix bridges.
* Apply to_json to msc4190 in mautrix configs
* Add | to_json to mautrix bridge registration io.element.msc4190.
* require matrix_synapse_experimental_features_msc3202_device_masquerading_enabled for matrix_bridges_msc4190_enabled
* Also add msc4190 support for mautrix-telegram
This moves the comments from being just in Jinja,
to actually ending up in the generated `labels` file,
which makes inspection of the final result easier.
Also, some new lines were added here and there to make labels
more legible.
The generated file may still include weird new-lines due to
various `if` statements yielding content or not, but that's not so ugly
anymore - now that we have proper start/end sections that are visible in
the final `labels` file.
This is an attempt at optimizing service startup.
The effect is most pronounced when many services are restarted one by one.
The systemd service manager role sometimes does this - for example when `just install-service synapse` runs.
In such cases, a 5-second delay for each Synapse worker service
(or other bridge/bot service that waits on the homeserver) quickly adds up to a lot.
When services are all stopped fully and then started, the effect is not so pronounced, because
`matrix-synapse.service` starts first and pulls all worker services (defined as `Wants=` for it).
Later on, when the systemd service manager role "starts" these worker services, they're started already.
Even if they had a 5-second wait each, it would have happened in parallel.
